Let’s talk about hope

Climate Joy Project

Can your community tackle climate change? I believe we can!

Hi! My name is Erin O’Kelley Muck, founder of the Climate Joy Project. As former executive director of the Ashland Climate Collaborative, I’m known for the joy I bring to the climate movement.

My passion is inspiring COMMUNITY climate action.

“We the people” often make key decisions in our lives that greatly affect climate. Like how we get around town, if we compost, and what appliances are used in our homes. Collectively, a few lifestyle shifts in these areas make a BIG impact.

I believe communities can and should lead the way. Let’s not wait for the whims of government administrations. When enough individuals and households embrace healthy climate actions — the hope we ignite will inspire other communities to join.

The time to act is now. Let’s do everything we can, while we can, to ensure a beautiful future for your children and mine.

Thank you for being part of the climate joy movement!

Ready for some happy climate inspiration…?

What do we need to do?

The problem: burning fossil fuels like coal, oil, and natural gas. The solution: shifting to clean energy.

Shift to clean transportation

Drive an EV or hybrid. Ride a bike or an e-bike. Walk more. Take the bus. Carpool. ANYTHING that gets the foot off the gas pedal.

Shift to clean home energy

Ashland’s electricity is powered by one of the cleanest energy sources available — hydroelectricity.* Shift to a clean energy heat pump (instead of gas furnace). Electrify everything.

Compost food waste

Compost food scraps and avoid food waste. This has a HUGE impact!

Shift to electric landscaping tools

Two-stroke gas engines are super polluters. Switch to quiet yard tools.

Be prepared

Take steps to protect your home from wildfire, conserve water, and prepare for emergencies.

“Your positive energy is such a gift and inspiration to all of us.”

– Mary Paschke, Neighborhood Climate Club
